Beloved couple, yesterday you crowned Christ as Head. Today you welcome the One He sent in His place.
Listen to me. Jesus did not leave you with a manual. He left you with a Person. The Holy Ghost. The Helper. The Comforter. The One who searches the deep things of God and brings them up into your understanding. Friend, every home has an atmosphere. And there is only one Person in all of heaven and earth who can fill your home with the atmosphere of God, and His name is the Holy Ghost. The home that does not welcome Him becomes a battleground for every other spirit that does.
So today we open the door. We do not just acknowledge Him. We welcome Him. We give Him room to take charge.
He Was Sent To Help, Not To Hover
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Notice this, He shall be in you. Not on the wall. Not in the church building. In you. The Holy Ghost is not visiting your home; if you are born again, He has moved in. The question is no longer whether He is in the house. The question is whether He has been given charge of the house.
Beloved, the word "Comforter" in your Bible is parakletos, One called alongside. He was sent to help. Help with what? Help with the conversation that always escalates. Help with the parenting decision you cannot agree on. Help with the silence that has fallen between you. Help with the temptation that keeps knocking. Help with the prayer you do not even know how to pray. "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Romans 8:26).
He Reveals What You Could Not See
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
Friend, half of marriage trouble is misreading each other. You think your spouse meant one thing; they meant something completely different. You assumed the worst; they were actually carrying something they had not told you. Watch this, the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth. He sees what you cannot see. He hears what was not said. He knows the wound underneath the reaction.
Beloved couple, when you invite Him to take charge of your home, He begins to show you each other. Suddenly you see, that was not stubbornness, that was fear. That was not laziness, that was exhaustion. That was not rejection, that was an old hurt from before we met. The Holy Ghost is the One who unlocks compassion in a marriage that had gone cold. He is the bank of heaven. He brings revelation. He shows you things you did not even know you needed to know.
A Home Without Him Becomes a Battleground
A long time ago, a couple was on the brink. Every conversation became a quarrel. Every quarrel became a wound. Every wound became a wall. They came in worn out, ready to walk away. Listen. When we prayed together, the very first thing the Holy Ghost dealt with was not the conflict. It was the atmosphere. They had spent years arguing in a room they had never sanctified. The same air that held last night's bitterness was the air they were breathing the next morning. So we sat down right there, opened the windows of that house in the spirit, and welcomed the Holy Ghost in. Within a week, the same conversation that used to explode was now possible without raised voices. Same people. Same issues. Different atmosphere.
Friend, that is what He does. He does not just fix problems. He changes the air in which the problems live. And when the air changes, the assignments of darkness lose their grip. Strife loses its room. Bitterness loses its hold. Because the same Holy Ghost who hovered over the waters at the beginning of creation can hover over your home and re-create it.
Discussion
When was the last time, husband and wife, that you together sat in silence and asked
the Holy Ghost to speak to your home?
Where in your marriage have you been trying to figure your spouse out by your own
understanding instead of letting the Spirit of truth show you?
What atmosphere has been living in your house, and what would it look like if the Holy
Ghost set a new one tonight?
Prayer & Declaration
Stand together. Pray it out loud:
Commission Beloved, today you did something most homes never do. You did not just confess the Holy Ghost, you gave Him charge. He is the Architect. He is the Builder. He is the Comforter who knows exactly what your spouse needs in the moment you cannot read them. From today, before you respond, you check with Him. Before you assume, you ask Him. Before you escalate, you let Him speak. The home that yields to the Holy Ghost is the home heaven cannot stop building.
This week
Identify one moment today where you would normally rely on your own reading of your
spouse, and pause to ask the Holy Ghost first.
Act, turn off every distraction for ten minutes tonight, sit together, and ask out loud:
Holy Ghost, what are You saying to our home?" Then wait in silence.
Pray, "Holy Ghost, help me to help my spouse today, in Jesus' name."
