Why the Fruit Keeps Growing Back, and How to Strike the Root

Beloved, welcome back.

Yesterday the Holy Ghost named the barrier. Today He shows you why it keeps coming back. Because friend, let me ask you something painful, have you not prayed about this before? Have you not gone forward for prayer at the altar, more than once? Have you not fasted on it, cried over it, made vows about it? Yet six months later, here it is again, sitting in your kitchen like a relative who refuses to leave.

That is not failure. That is incomplete deliverance. You cut the fruit, but you did not strike the root. And anything you do not pull up from the root will grow back, every time, in every season. The enemy is patient. He will let you trim him for years if it means he gets to stay planted.

Listen to me, friend, God did not call you to a life of trimming. He called you to a life of uprooting. Today we go down beneath the surface, where the lie was first believed, where the wound was first received, where the covenant was first made. That is the day the cycle ends.

You will never win the war on the surface. The battle is at the root.

Every Barrier Has a Root, and Jesus Said It Will Be Pulled Up

Hear what Jesus said with His own mouth:

Pause on the language. He did not say trimmed. He did not say pruned. He said rooted up. The image is violent, a hand reaches down into the soil and rips the entire plant out, soil and all, so that the same vine cannot grow back from a hidden remnant. That is what the Father does with anything not of His planting.

Beloved, this means two things. First, every illegal plant has a planting date. Somebody put it there. The enemy did not invent the seed in your life out of nothing. There was a moment of agreement, a moment of trauma, a moment of inherited cursing, when the seed went into the soil. Second, the Father is not a trimmer. He is a Gardener with His sleeves rolled up, and what He does not own, He uproots.

The Four Common Roots

So you do not dig blind, let me name the four roots the Holy Ghost most often exposes when He takes a person back to the soil.

Lies Believed. A statement was spoken, by a parent, a teacher, a culture, the enemy

himself, and you agreed. "I am not enough." "Money is for other people." "Love always leaves." The lie became a foundation, and on that foundation you have been building your decisions ever since.

Wounds Unhealed. A real harm happened, and instead of being washed by the Healer,

it sat and rotted. Bitterness took root in the place of the wound. Hebrews 12:15 warns us, "lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled." That root will trouble not just you, but those near you.

Covenants Made. A vow was spoken, sometimes in ignorance, sometimes in family ritual,

sometimes in a moment of pain. "I will never marry." "Nobody will ever hurt me again." "I belong to this lineage." Words are seeds, and the soil of the unseen realm takes them seriously.

4. Sins Unrenounced. Patterns of sin that were never specifically broken, just left to fade. Sin that fades does not die, it just goes underground. From underground, it sends new shoots up at every opportunity. Watch this, every barrier in your life is fed by at least one of these four roots. Sometimes two. Sometimes all four braided together. The Holy Ghost will show you which, and which one to deal with first.

The Fast That Loosens Roots

How do you actually dig? God answered that question through Isaiah seven hundred years before Christ, and the answer has not changed:

Look at the verbs again, loose, undo, let go free, break. This is root work, not surface work. And Isaiah ties the work to a fast. Friend, do not be afraid of the word fast. It does not have to be forty days. It can be one meal. It can be one day. It can be a quiet evening with your phone off. The point of the fast is not to impress God; it is to soften the soil. Fasting loosens what feeding tightens. The flesh becomes still, the spirit becomes loud, and the root, which has been hiding under the noise of your appetite, finally surfaces.

Truth Is the Root-Killer

Once the Holy Ghost has surfaced the root, you do not pull it up with effort. You pull it up with truth.

Beloved, the lie you believed put the root in. The truth God speaks pulls the root out. Notice how Jesus phrased it, the truth shall make you free. Not "the truth will inform you". Not "the truth will encourage you". The truth will make you free, the way a key makes a lock open. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17). When He whispers the counter-truth into the place the lie sat, the lie cannot occupy the same ground. One has to leave. Light always wins the room where it is welcomed.

Discussion

What pattern in your life keeps coming back even after you have prayed about it? What

does it tell you about the root?

Of the four roots, lies, wounds, covenants, sins, which one feels most familiar to your

story? Why?

Have you ever fasted specifically to deal with a root, or only to ask God for something

new? What is the difference, in your experience?

Write one lie you believed about yourself for years. Then write the truth God speaks

back over you. Share with the group if you are able.

Sit if you have been standing. Quiet your breathing. Put both hands open, palms up. Speak:

AMEN

Commission Beloved, the work of today is the deepest work in this whole course. Many believers will never go this far. They prefer the surface because the surface is familiar. But you are different. You have asked the Holy Ghost to take you down to the soil, and He will. Trust His timing. If He brings up a memory today, it is because the healing is here today. Do not flinch. Do not numb. Stay in His hand.

You will never win the war on the surface. Today, by His Spirit, you go to the root.

This week

Audit one recurring problem, write at the top of a page the one issue that keeps coming

back. Under it, ask the Holy Ghost: Where did this start? What lie did I believe? What wound never healed? What covenant did I make? What sin did I never renounce? Write what comes.

Renounce out loud every root the Holy Ghost surfaces. Out loud, not silently. The

unseen realm hears the spoken word.

Pray daily, "Holy Ghost, expose the root. I renounce every lie and open my heart for

Your truth. In Jesus' name. Amen."

• Choose one recurring issue.

• Ask the Holy Ghost the four root questions.

• Speak the renouncement out loud.

• Receive the counter-truth in writing.
